Customs declarations service

On the 31st of March 2023, the CHIEF system will officially be replaced with CDS (Customs Declaration Service).

This change will happen in 2 stages:

1. 30/09/2022: import declarations close on chief

2. 31/3/2023: export declarations close on CHIEF/NES (national exports systems)

CDS is more secure and stable. It has the capacity and capability to grow alongside government plans as well as deliver savings to the taxpayer.

Some requirements will include pre-notifying authorities that consignments will be entering GB and uploading a certified Export Health Certificate using the Import of products, animals, food and feed system (IPAFFS).

Webinars with a panel of experts will be organised by the Trader Readiness Team Animal and Animal Product Imports Projects, to assist you and answer any questions or doubts you may have.
